Junction Arts Festival 2012 was held in Launceston from the 22 - 26 August. There were bands, shows, dancers, artists and comedy acts. On the opening night Emily and I went and watched a few of the bands.
We also went to see Art + Sport = YEAH! by the List Operators, an interactive comedy act. It was hilarious!
Outside the tents (it was set up like a circus) there was a 1 kilometre ball of knitted scarf! Hand knitted by 250 community volunteers from Meander Valley.
I took part in En Route, an interactive audio tour of the City of Launceston. I basically had an ipod with audio tracts and text messages from my phone and clues around the city that told me where to go and what to do.
I was very peaceful and a self reflective tour that made me go places I didn't think I could and opened me up to a new city.
Once here I had to write on the surrounding walls with chalk, something I wish someone had told me. This one really makes you think.
I was taken on a journey past a lot of street art.
Launceston over the Esk River
I was considering getting into Roller Derby with the Van Dieman Rollers but I think I might wait until next years fresh meat intake as I would need to spend a bit on gear and membership to get started. I think working out and stretching is a good lead up to it first. Loved that I saw a few of these on my walk around the city. I believe I have fallen in love with Launceston.
Have you been here before?
